By Invitation Only...

Hi Girls!  Welcome to your new, by Invitation Only Bible Study Room, and thank you for your e-mailed and telephone responses, this is your Room after all and it is important that we are able to converse in such a way as is authentic to what we are experiencing as we go through this study, and that includes voicing our questions and queries in a safe and loving atmosphere, without always being aware of the need to be cautious in regards to who might be listening in and perhaps them not understanding or even misinterpreting what we say.

I am looking forward to the weeks yet to come and will definitely (unless God has another plan) be there next Thursday!

Love you all,

Cathie

Hi Cathie,
I tried to leave a comment earlier and was not able to so I will try again. I was going to say that it felt safe and cosy knowing I was going into a "Revelation Study Only" site. I have never felt that way before so maybe it is a sign that this was a good move. Until next time...good to be with all of my sisters!...now I will go down to the little blue man...and we shall see if this works!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEACHER!

Okay...Now this is starting to feel like LONG ago when I was trying to go on this website and be modern and up to date like the rest of my so "WITH IT" sisters and that little blue man in the "wheelchair?" had me totally befuddled!
So here I am, thinking I did it all right and up comes Anonymous said...I am NOT Anonymous...my name is ANGIE and I will try this again and in case this does not work you KNOW who I am...because I am not going to do this again...I have to go and do my Bible Study!!!

Ok...finally, I can comment, YEAH!!
I like this being private thing cause now we know who we're talking with. Angie, that question about the 2 witnesses...appears most people or commentators, think they can be two of three people but no one knows for sure who besides Elijah, Moses or Enoch. Look up David Guzick's commentary on this and he gives the differing points of interest. Have fun studying!!

Wow! It is so good to see you girls here!

As I was heading out the door at around 11:30 this morning I all of a sudden got really clear direction, so I ran back in (telling my husband I would just be a minute) reformatted the permissions settings (completely different than how I had planned on doing it)... and now, just getting in from church evening services... here you are! I am so happy!

Thank you for your birthday shout outs, I had a really wonderful day, topped off with a strong message from Revelation 3 on the dangers of lukewarm Christianity... powerful!

And listen, you'll get a kick out of this. After the service I saw a woman that I recognized as a business owner here in Maple Ridge. I went over to introduce myself, not sure if she would remember me from when we had met a few years ago. She did, but seemed a little 'thrown' by my approaching her, so we spoke for a little while and then I was approached by someone else and she quietly left. A little later as I was speaking to two women by the front doors, this woman past by me with her husband, then quickly turned and grabbing my arm gently said, "Cathie, I visit your blog all the time and it is amazing..." After I thanked her, I asked her how she had heard of it.... she looked at the two women I was speaking with and said... "you would be amazed at how word gets around" and then both of those women nodded! They have been checking in as well!

I agree with ANONYMOUS... it feels warm and cozy being able to come here and be here with you girls. Perhaps others, through the promptings towards the Lord in the other Rooms, will begin to wonder what wonderful things are contained within this Room... and perhaps be bold enough to one day declare their intent to join us!

Let's pray beyond more than we could ever ask or think!

Well, my husband is calling me to go and spend a little time with him and to watch one of our favourite English shows... so away I go!

Love you!

Hi Cathie,

I am so excited about this week's study as I have heard about the two witnessess so many times and have felt so embarrassed because I didn't have much of a clue about them. So here I am learning something I have always wanted to know! Got to go and catch up - We had our granddaughter from Thursday to Sat. night - needless to say I didn't get much studying done!

Hi Debbie,
I know that you are really going to enjoy this week's lesson, lots to learn, lots to discuss and lots to live out as we dig deeper into His Word!

Hi Cathie,
I hope you had a wonderful bithday. I read your Monday morning musings today about your birthday trip and it sounded just perfect for you. I too am now ready for spring. Spring and fall are my favourite seasons; spring is a time of new life. It starts slowly and gently and becomes magnificent in colour and the feeling of warmth on my skin. I just love it. I am on Day 4 in this week's study and find I am a bit confused. Rather than get too upset because I am not "getting it" I have decided to just follow the directions in the study quide and do my cross referencing and see where I end up-hopefully ending up understanding more than I do now. Really looking forward to seeing you and hearing all you have to say.
With love,
Jan

Hi Jan! I just got in from the gym, had a bite to eat and after tidying up the kitchen will be spending the rest of the day in deep study! All I can tell you at this point sweetheart is... HANGETH THOU IN THERE!

You are doing EXACTLY the right thing, sticking with the study at hand, completing all of your assignments, all the while doing your cross referencing and taking notes like crazy!

I'll probably be posting soon... so keep checking in!

love you,
Cathie

Hi Cathie, Hi Girls!
I am really looking forward to what you have all learned about the two witnesses. Something that has really struck a chord with me is that these two witnesses will be preaching "after the rapture" and yet STILL they face persecution, are mocked, and even face danger. It is almost unbelievable to me. I have noticed something during the tragedy in Haiti that gives me just a glimpse as why this could be. If faith and trust in God is mentioned...it is okay BUT if God's judgement is even hinted at it is immediately mocked and ridiculed.

Last Sunday I heard a sermon that Marnie and I thought was so very good. He started off by asking us if when we thought of the people who had died in Haiti, did we think of how many may be lost eternally...and yes he even said the word hell. He even went into Revelation and so strongly encouraged us to get into God's Word and PRAY!

I am looking forward to Thursday and I too...am "hangething in there"...thanks for the info Wendy.

Hi Cathie,
I hope that I am not overdoing my welcome but chapter 10:19 is really grabbing my interest. It says "And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened: and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm." To me it is a WOW! verse. I never thought of a temple in heaven and the ark of His covenant being there. I have listened to many theories as to where it is but this makes me go hmmm... the word "appeared" is very interesting...so much to digest!!!

Off I go to see what else jumps out at me! Thank you Cathie for sticking close to us and guiding us through GOD'S LAST WORDS TO US!

Angie, there is absolutely no way you could ever 'over-do' a welcome in the Study Room. Because we are never going to be able to cover everything on Thursday morning, this Study Room is where we can get in extra teaching, and extra learning... so... use it, use it, use it!

Angie, your comment is a springboard for discussion and learning!

You probably noticed that Chapter 11 begins with the temple on EARTH and then closes with the temple in HEAVEN.

The HEAVENLY temple (as shown in the OT, Exodus and Chronicles) was used as the pattern for the EARTHLY tabernacle and temple.

It (the temple) represented God's desire to dwell among His people. We can see this in Exodus 25:8-9.

And from our year long study in John, we remember that in the very first chapter, in verse 14 we are told that Jesus, being the Word of God, "tabernacled" "dwelt" among us and we beheld His glory. And now we know that we ourselves are the 'temple' of God... where He "indwells' us!

And in the book of Hebrews we see that EVERYTHING in the temple points to Jesus.

From my study, and because I believe that the temple furnishings in heaven were not of earthly origin, I believe that the ark of His covenant that is referred to in 11:19 is actually the symbol of God's presence as well as His covenant.

At this particular time (in our study), Israel is going through INTENSE suffering, and God is reassuring them of His covenant care.

In the OT we are told of the thunder at Sinai at the giving of God's Law and here we are told of the thunder that comes with His judgement against the world for the breaking of His law.

One day, the temple will no longer be needed...

"I saw no temple in it (the new city, the new Jerusalem), for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb ARE IT'S TEMPLE." Rev. 21:22

Hope this helps more than hinders you girls in your study this week!

Hi everyone,

My oh my am I having a difficult week! I think I am sinking fast and am trying deparately to hold my head above water. I have learned so much in these two chapters but have so many questions. Can't wait till we meet on Thursday.

Thanks Cathie,
I had a great time this afternoon looking up references for temple and covenant. I found some beautiful verses on both and loved the one you gave in Revelation 21:22. I was led into Hebrews 7,8 and 9. I think I was meant to spend a little time in Hebrews. Hebrews 7:22 speaks of Jesus becoming the guarantee of a better covenant. I can see where you could spend days on just one word. Your explanation of Rev 11:19 makes sense and I think I was starting to figure that out in my digging. It makes me realize how little I really know but I can also see how far I have come. Whenever I feel discouraged I hang on to that. Do you think that the temple that is spoken of in the beginning of chapter 11 is the one that will be built during the tribulation?

Debbie, I am looking forward to listening to all your questions because I know that they will be good ones! Something tells me that Jan is going to have some good ones of her own. See you Thursday!

Hi Debbie! Hi Angie!

Debbie, Angie has given us some wise words, words that you need to hang on to sweetheart... "look how far you have come!" Every single question that you have means that you are digging ever deeper into His Word!

Angie, the short answer to your question is YES! (But whoever said that the rule is to always keep it short?! :o)

At the beginning of Chapter 11 we see the temple being measured. The temple of Ezekiel 40 was measured and even the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:15-17) will be measured. The word "measuring" that is used here carries with it the meaning of "to claim". The temple is measured because God is claiming it as His own.

From my study, I believe that Chapter 11 is describing the LAST 31/2 years of Daniel's 70th Week. This temple would have been constructed in the FIRST 31/2 years of Daniel's 70th Week so that orthodox Jews can offer their sacrifices according to the Mosaic Law of the O.T.

But, at the beginning of the LAST 31/2 years, the sacrifices will be stopped and the anti-christ will set himself up in the temple and proclaim himself to be God. (More about that next week in Chapter 13!)

I find it interesting that not only the temple and altar were to be measured, but also a count of the worshippers who come into it... An evaluation of that which truly belongs to Him.

Although the temple WILL BE rebuilt and the Jews will worship in their temple and possess Jerusalem, it will be short lived, because during this LAST 31/2 years the Gentiles will tread down the holy city, persecute the Jews and desecrate the temple.

.... but that is NOT the final word... the FINISHED WORD is coming... BEHOLD!

Walk strong with your God today girls, and God willing, I will see you all tomorrow morning!

Love, Cathie
